Don't Say Suicide
This article is just plain wrong on so many levels I can barely conceive of it - like it's an online myth waiting to be busted. Except that it's not.
How poor has the generic online community become that someone 'threatens' suicide and the other people in the forum chastise/egg the person on. Where were the moderators? Where was this guys family and friends? It's haunting if for no other reason that the police after being called had to cover up the webcam once they discovered the body. Ew.
RIP Abraham Biggs. I pray you found your peace.

A very sad article indeed and that this young man's cry for help went unheard

Very sad... it is getting scary out there. Parents that have older children,cyber-bullying is becoming a very hot topic. Life is much different for our kids than it was for us. Used to be, a kid could get picked on at school and still know that at the end of the day they could go home and escape the bullying for a while. Now the bullying doesn't end with the school day. Kids send text messages that continue the onslaught of negativity, people can be brutal on myspace and facebook and stay at a distance when they do it. For many kids, there is no escape.
There was a young student from Maryland that killed himself over the continued bullying he received on line. The parents never knew, until they reviewed all the comments that were still on his account. The parents were brave enough to show the world the kind of hurt other kids are doing. It was awful. Beware what is going on in your child's cyber-life.

Man, with the combo of "reality" media, social media and the decline in empathy in our societies, this kinda thing was always going to happen.
Just sad that it affects so many people like family so badly. And that it takes a life.

I'm with you. When I read this article, I was incredulous. Especially shocking that it came only shortly after another man jumped from a building to his death after onlookers "dared him to" and "egged him on". Clearly these aren't one-off cases, and it's frightening to ponder what kind of people are out there.

Oh my goodness, what kind of a twisted society do we live in?
